Biography of Eugene Gordon Lee

Eugene Gordon Lee was born in 1933 in Texas. At the age of two, he started his acting career in the series "Our Gang", a popular comedy series about a group of mischievous children. The producer, Hal Roach, noticed that Eugene resembled another star of the show, George McFarland, who played Spanky. Eugene's family then moved to California, where he portrayed Spanky's younger brother, Porky, for four years.

During his time in "Our Gang", Eugene even won an Oscar in 1936 for his role in the short film "Bored of Education". In 1938, the production moved to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, but Eugene was eventually replaced by another actor, Robert Blake, as he grew older and taller.

After his acting career, Eugene pursued a different path. He became a school teacher in Colorado and changed his name to Gordon Lee. He deliberately distanced himself from his previous acting career, and it is uncertain whether he ever fully accepted not being able to continue in the film industry.

Upon retirement, Gordon Lee moved to Minnesota to be closer to his son, Douglas. In the 1950s, he made appearances in the "Little Rascals" series, which was a continuation of "Our Gang". In the early 1980s, he attempted to make a comeback in "Little Rascals" and also engaged in business ventures related to the trademark "Porky".

Gordon Lee passed away on October 16, 2005, a few days before his 72nd birthday, after a difficult battle with lung and brain cancer.
