Evan Fournier: A Rising French Star
Evan Fournier is a French professional basketball player who plays the position of shooting guard for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted 20th overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Early Career
Fournier began playing basketball at the age of eight. He joined his first professional club, Nanterre 92, in 2009, playing in the Pro B, the French second-tier basketball division. In 2010, he moved to Pro A club Poitiers Basket 86, averaging 6.3 points in 15 minutes per game.
International Success
Fournier's international experience began in 2009 when he led France's youth team to a silver medal at the U18 European Championship, losing to Serbia in the final. He was named to the All-Tournament Team alongside Enes Kanter, Dejan Musli, Toni Prostran, and Jonas Valanciunas.
In 2011, Fournier returned to the French U20 team for the European Championship in Spain. France won bronze, losing only once. Fournier averaged 16.9 points per game and was named to the All-Tournament Team once again, this time alongside Nikola Mirotic, Alessandro Gentile, Furkan Aldemir, and Bojan Dubljevic.
Pro A Breakthrough
In March 2012, Fournier was named Pro A Player of the Month. He declared for the 2012 NBA Draft in May of that year.
NBA Career
Fournier was selected 20th overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2012 NBA Draft.
