Biography of Evan Karagias
Evan "Air" Karagias is an American model, actor, professional wrestler, and fitness enthusiast.
Early Life and Career
Karagias was born on November 27, 1973, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Greek immigrant parents. After graduating high school, he moved to New York City and began pursuing a modeling career.
After appearing in fitness magazines, Karagias gained public attention through his involvement with the Olympic advertising campaign for Calvin Klein and his recurring role on the ABC soap opera "All My Children."
Wrestling Career
Despite his impressive physique, Karagias initially hesitated to enter the wrestling business. However, after six months of intense training, he debuted in the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1998 under his real name. In 1999, Karagias joined the boy band "3 Count" alongside Shannon Moore and Shane Helms. The trio released a hit single and music video titled "Can't Get You Out of My Heart."
Peak of Success
In 2000, Karagias defeated Eric Priest for the NWA American Championship, becoming the first person of Greek descent to hold that title. He went on to win the SCW Heavyweight Championship three times between 2002 and 2003.
Post-Wrestling Career
After taking a hiatus from wrestling, Karagias returned to the ring in 2006 for a charity match on TNT's "Pro Wrestling." He has since retired from active competition.
Personal Life
Karagias is married and has three children, including two daughters born on the same day (July 24) in different years. He has a tattoo on his right shoulder that reads "Christ is Risen" in Greek. Karagias currently focuses on his family and his business enterprises, including dog breeding and acting.
