Evelyn Ashford, an American athlete, was born on April 15, 1957, in Louisiana, United States. From a young age, Ashford was passionate about sports, particularly track and field. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, she proved to be talented and capable of learning.

At the age of nineteen, Ashford successfully qualified for the 1976 Summer Olympics, where she finished fifth in the hundred-meter race. Three years later, she broke the world record in both the hundred-meter and two-hundred-meter races.

In 1980, Ashford was on the verge of achieving greatness. As the main contender for the gold medal, she was expected to excel at the Summer Olympics. However, the United States boycotted the 1980 Olympics, preventing Ashford from participating.

In 1983, Ashford suffered a muscle injury that prevented her from reaching the final of the World Championships in Helsinki.
