Biography of Yevheniya Vlasova
Yevheniya Vlasova, a Ukrainian singer, rose to fame in the late 90s. She delighted her fans with new compositions and her stunning appearance throughout the following decade, but then disappeared. As it turned out, life decided to test the resilience of this beauty. Despite health problems, years of obscurity, and other difficulties, Yevheniya, like a phoenix, tried to rise from the ashes every time.
Childhood and Youth
Yevheniya Vlasova was born in 1978. She knew from an early age that she would become a famous singer. Her childhood and youth in her native Kyiv were filled with music. She sang wherever she appeared. Yevheniya grew up in a creative environment. Her mother was a former actress, and her father, Oleksandr Poplavsky, sang in the Kyiv Levko Revutsky Choir. However, after her parents' divorce, Yevheniya had little contact with her father. On the other hand, her relationship with her stepfather, who came into her life when she was young, was warm. The family grew when Yevheniya's brother, Petro Kryzhanovsky (later working as her art director), was born.
After finishing school, Vlasova entered the famous R.M. Glier Kyiv State Higher Music College. In her early years of college, Yevheniya already earned money to help her family. She performed on the stage of the "Hollywood" club and never missed an opportunity to participate in competitions and festivals.
The Music Career
In 1996, Yevheniya became a laureate of the "Song Vernissage" competition. Two years later, after receiving her diploma, the singer competed regularly on stage with other aspiring pop stars. The turning point in her career happened after performing two songs at the "Slavianski Bazaar" festival. Vlasova's success was tremendous. She was invited to various festivals not only in her homeland, but also abroad. Her musical career was rapidly developing. Another victory was achieved in the Italian city of Rimini, where she sang a composition specially written for her voice, called "Music is My Soul." After her performance, Vlasova regularly participated in the Russian-Ukrainian festival "Song of the Year" for two consecutive years, starting from 1997. In 1998, Vlasova appeared in the musical film "Take the Overcoat..." alongside popular local artists such as Ani Lorak, Harik Krychevsky, and Natalia Mogilevskaya. The creators of the film were inspired by the plot of Leonid Bykov's war film "Only Old Men Are Going to Battle." After a series of victories, Yevheniya met Dmitry Kostyuk, who volunteered to be her producer. During this period, Vlasova wrote the main track, which became her calling card, titled "Wind of Hope." They made a music video for the song, which was broadcasted on Ukrainian and Russian TV channels. In 2003, Yevheniya released her debut album, which was named after the hit single. The album sold 100,000 copies. In 2004, after the birth of her daughter, Vlasova took a creative break and dedicated a year to motherhood. But soon, the artist reappeared on the music scene. This time, she collaborated with the renowned vocalist Andrew Donalds. They recorded the album "Wind of Hope," which brought Vlasova popularity far beyond the borders of Ukraine. Their main collaboration was called "Limbo." Later, singles such as "I Am a Living River," "Northern Lights," and "Cry for Me" were released. Yevheniya participated in the selection for Eurovision 2007, but the jury chose Andrei Danilko, performing as Verka Serduchka. In the same year, she visited Russia, where she participated in the program "Five Stars" in Sochi. She took second place in the TV show "People's Star - 1."
In 2008, Vlasova took on the role of a producer. She created the NINA MUSIC center and released her third album, "Synergy." Yevheniya was often invited to various Ukrainian TV shows. The vocalist toured the country and abroad. In 2010, she was recognized as the most beautiful singer of the year. It was also the year when Yevheniya opened a vocal school. In 2015, the artist released the single "We Are Not Fate," for which she also made a music video, as well as the subsequent hit "Without Changing the Pictures." Life circumstances periodically forced Vlasova to leave the stage. There were even reports in the press that she had passed away. But despite the difficulties, she strives to stay afloat. One of her latest released compositions is the 2020 track "I Will Paint."
Personal Life
From many interviews with Vlasova, it is clear that she has encountered the wrong men in her life, with whom she would not want to be connected. In 2000, Yevheniya had a romance with the famous producer Kostyuk. However, the relationship quickly deteriorated. The singer claims that she could not tolerate betrayal and humiliation. The couple broke up in 2005, a year after the birth of their daughter Nina. The divorce was far from peaceful, with both former spouses not holding back in their expressions, recalling their "better half."
Vlasova also had a complicated relationship with her daughter's godfather, Konstantin Meladze. For a while, the vocalist accused Meladze of betrayal and exclaimed that if given the opportunity, she would have her child baptized again. However, in 2019, Vlasova admitted that she was wrong. When Yevheniya truly needed a helping hand, Konstantin Shotaovich provided support.
Vlasova's personal life had a chance to change for the better after meeting rapper Sergey Larkyn (Larson). The couple seemed to be floating on the wings of love for several months. But when the singer fell ill, their feelings began to fade.
Currently, Yevheniya has little faith in men, but deep down, she dreams that somewhere there will be a true soulmate with whom she would want to wake up every morning and enjoy life.
Illness
In 2009, doctors suspected cancer in the young singer and mother. It was decided that she would undergo surgery. After the tumor was removed, doctors insisted on chemotherapy. Initially, Yevheniya felt fine, but a week after the first session, her condition deteriorated sharply. She lost her appetite and had difficulty moving. During her treatment, Vlasova reassessed her relationships with friends and loved ones, and only faithful people remained by her side.
Over time, the resilient Ukrainian regained her strength and returned to the stage. In 2016, Yevheniya took a creative break. She stopped giving concerts and recording tracks. She invested her free money into a business, but the company had not yet started generating income when she faced a new misfortune. In the autumn of 2017, Vlasova felt pain in her abdomen. During a medical examination, doctors discovered adhesions in her intestines, which required serious surgical intervention.
In the autumn of 2019, Yevheniya posted a photo on her Instagram page wearing a beautiful evening dress, accompanied by a statement that she had never had cancer. In response to the singer, accusations of lying flooded in, as if Vlasova had staged her illness to collect funds. In the next post, Yevheniya clarified that she considered the decision of the medical council regarding chemotherapy to be a mistake, and she only asked for help in 2017 when she had to deal with another health issue.
Yevheniya Vlasova Today
Today, Vlasova continues to develop as a producer and director of a vocal school. She helps those who simply want to sing and enjoy the process, as well as young talents taking their first steps in a musical career.
At the same time, the singer does not plan to completely retreat behind the scenes. Vlasova loves the stage and seizes every opportunity to remind her fans of her presence. For example, on April 18, 2021, Yevheniya appeared in the semi-finals of the show "The Voice of the Country." The star supported Galina Kurishko, a contestant from Oleg Vinnik's team. Although another contestant made it to the finals, the audience received positive emotions from Yevheniya's performance.
