Early Life and Military Career

Konstantin Arsenyev was born into a noble family in St. Petersburg, Russia. He graduated from the 8th St. Petersburg Gymnasium and attended two years at the University of St. Petersburg. In 1894, he joined the Leib-Guard Uhlan Her Majesty's Regiment as a volunteer. After completing officer training, he was commissioned as a Cornet in 1895.

Boxer Rebellion and Russo-Japanese War

In 1900-1901, Arsenyev participated in the suppression of the Boxer Rebellion in China as part of General Rennenkampf's cavalry detachment. In 1904, he volunteered for the Russo-Japanese War and commanded the 2nd squadron of the Upper Udinsk Regiment of the Transbaikal Cossack Host. He later transferred to the Tersko-Kuban Horse Regiment of the Caucasian Cavalry Brigade.

First World War

Arsenyev played a significant role in the First World War. In 1914, he commanded a detachment of the Leib-Guard Uhlan Regiment within General Khan Nakhichevan's Cavalry Corps. He subsequently took command of the Leib-Guard Cuirassier Her Majesty's Regiment and later the 2nd Brigade of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Division. Arsenyev distinguished himself in battle and was promoted to General Staff Colonel in 1911 and General Major in 1915.

Russian Civil War

After the October Revolution, Arsenyev organized a detachment of officers from the Guards Cavalry and took part in the White movement against the Bolsheviks. In May 1918, he was arrested by the Cheka but managed to escape to Finland and join General Yudenich's Northwestern Army. Arsenyev commanded the 2nd Army Corps and led the Pskov Region of the Northwestern Front.

Emigration and Later Life

Following the defeat of the Northwestern Army, Arsenyev remained in Estonia. In May 1920, he moved to Berlin, where he founded and became the head of the Union of Officers of the Russian Army and Navy. Arsenyev also participated in the Reichenhall Monarchist Congress and later moved to France. In his later years, he served as the Chairman of the Association of Officers of the Great War and a member of the Union of St. George's Cavaliers.

Death and Legacy

Konstantin Arsenyev died in Paris and was buried in the Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois Russian Cemetery. He was renowned for his bravery and leadership during the First World War and the Russian Civil War. Arsenyev's distinguished military service and unwavering loyalty to the Russian Empire earned him a place among the most respected military figures of his era.
