Early Life and Musical Career

Evgeny Orlov began studying music at the age of five, learning to play the piano at a music school. At the age of 12, he started playing the cello and later added the trumpet and percussion instruments to his repertoire. He attended School No. 24 in the Vasilievsky Island district of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) from 1975. At the age of 10, Orlov started playing and singing in the school ensemble "Syncopation", led by the unique musician and educator Valery Ivanovich Shlyakhtov. This ensemble also included Oleg Popkov, who later became a well-known composer and producer. In "Syncopation", Orlov began composing his first musical works.

At the age of 16, Orlov won the Leningrad Jazz Performers Competition, impressing the jury with his simultaneous trumpet and piano playing. After finishing school, Orlov was late to apply to a music college due to a summer film expedition with his father. As a result, he chose to study carpentry and woodworking at Vocational School No. 16, which trained assemblers and tuners of musical instruments. During his apprenticeship, he worked in the workshop of the renowned guitar master Alexander Krasnoshchekov. After completing his studies, Orlov achieved the highest qualification as a carpenter and became a specialist in woodworking.

Military Service and Professional Career

From 1986 to 1988, Orlov served in the air defense troops of the Soviet Army as a private. During his military service, he found time to pursue his passion for music by composing pieces for the military brass band. In one competition, the band impressed a commission headed by a general by performing a jazz composition arranged by Orlov. As a result, Orlov was asked to give a lecture on the history of jazz to the soldiers.

In 1989, Orlov began working as a musician in restaurants and at weddings, playing the synthesizer to earn a living. In 1990, he played keyboards in the rock band "Everest" and performed as their opening act during a joint tour with the legendary British band "Uriah Heep" in the Soviet Union. Later, Orlov became the musical director of the teenage show "Neon Boy" at the "Benefis" theater, led by artistic director Mikhail Boyarsky. He formed the show using members of the school ensemble "Syncopation" and showcased his composition skills. The lead vocalist of the group was Sergey Makarov, who later became part of the project "Diskomafiya", and Orlov's brother, Mikhail, played the trumpet in "Neon Boy".

From 1993 to 1998, Orlov also led and organized cultural programs on cruise ships circulating around Europe and Asia. In 2001, he started living between Moscow and St. Petersburg, and in 2005, he added Prague, Czech Republic, to his frequent destinations. Later, he lived in the city of Teplice, Czech Republic, until 2012, juggling work and projects in three cities and two countries.

In 2010, Orlov, together with his partners Denis Shashkin and Nikolay Popov, opened the "Republic KIDS" school-studio in Moscow, where over 100 gifted children from all over Russia receive additional education. Orlov is the author of a methodology for working with creatively gifted children.
