Biography of Eva Bielas

Eva Bielas is a Polish opera soprano. She was born on March 3, 1977, in Cieszyn, a small town in southern Poland. Bielas studied at the music schools in Cieszyn and Gliwice before completing her education at the Katowice Academy of Music.

Education and Achievements

From 1998 to 2000, Bielas studied under professor Helen Lazarska at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 2005, she obtained her doctoral degree in vocal performance from the Katowice Academy. Throughout her career, Bielas has achieved success in national and international vocal competitions. She won the first prize at the Polish National Vocal Competition in Wrocław in 1996, the honorary first prize at the Ada Sari International Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sącz in 1997, and the prize of the International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg in Salzburg in the same year. In 1998, she received the honorary first prize at the International Vocal Competition of Feruccio Taliavigni in Deutschlandsberg, Austria, and the first place and four awards at the International Schneider-Trnavski Vocal Competition in Trnava, Slovakia.

Opera Career and Performances

Bielas has had a prolific opera career, performing in numerous productions in Poland and Europe. Some of her most successful roles include Lady Billows in Benjamin Britten's "Albert Herring" in Vienna in 1999, Rozalinda in Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" in 2001, and Micaela in George Bizet's "Carmen" in 2003. She also portrayed Tatiana in Tchaikovsky's "Evgeny Onegin" in 2003 and the lead role in Moniuszko's "Halka" in Krakow in 2004. In 2004, Bielas became a soloist at the Krakow Opera. She has recorded for Polish radio and television, as well as various record labels, and has performed concert oratorios in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland, accompanied by renowned Polish and European orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio, the Orchestra of the Silesian Opera, and the Wrocław Philharmonic, among others.
