Fahtruddin Rakhmatgalievich Ablyazov: A Hero of the Great Patriotic War
Early Life and Military Service
Born in the Soviet Union as a Tatar, Fahtruddin Rakhmatgalievich Ablyazov joined the Red Army in 1935, serving until 1938. He was recalled to service in 1942 and fought in the Great Patriotic War from September of that year onwards.
Valor at the Oder River
On January 30, 1945, while crossing the Oder River, Ablyazov replaced his fallen platoon commander. Leading his unit across the river, he engaged in a fierce battle, allowing other companies to cross. During the fighting, his platoon destroyed four enemy firing points, cleared a street, and cut off their escape routes. Ablyazov's platoon repelled three enemy counterattacks throughout the day.
Recognition and Honors
For his extraordinary bravery, Ablyazov was awarded the highest honor in the Soviet Union, the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, on April 10, 1945. Additionally, he received the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
Later Life
Demobilized in 1945, Ablyazov returned home and worked in the agricultural sector. Throughout his life, he was decorated with numerous awards, including the Medal of the Golden Star, the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, the Medal For Courage, and other medals.
