Early Life and Education

Faig Jafarov was born on January 10, 1940, in the village of Nyuvady, Meghri Region, Armenian SSR. He completed his medical studies at the Azerbaijan Medical Institute.

Academic Career

After graduating, Jafarov joined the faculty of normal physiology at the Azerbaijan Medical University. His research focused on the role of endogenous opioid peptides in shaping motivations and emotions. He identified specific central-peripheral disruptions associated with the destruction of motivational brain structures and the role of opioid peptides in response to these disruptions. He also discovered the motivational and integrative properties of these peptides in the compensation process.

Honors and Affiliations

In 2001, Jafarov was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NANA). He is also an academician of the International Academy of Sciences (Munich) and the London Diplomatic Academy.

Publications

Throughout his career, Jafarov has authored over 150 scientific publications in various journals. His research contributions have significantly advanced the understanding of the neurophysiological basis of motivations and emotions.
