Early Life and Gymnastics BeginningsFarah Ann Abdul Hadi was born on May 3, 1994, in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. The daughter of a Malaysian father and a Canadian mother, Farah Ann is the middle child of three, with a sister, Katrina Ann, who was a national synchronized swimmer.
Farah Ann began gymnastics at the tender age of three and quickly rose to prominence on the national scene, competing in the Sukma Games.
International Debut and Career Highlights
Farah Ann made her international debut at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India. In her first Olympic appearance, she finished 11th in the individual all-around at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Later that year, she achieved her first international podium success, winning a bronze medal in the floor exercise at the Artistic Celtic Cup-Commonwealth Invitational in Perth, Scotland.
Farah Ann continued to shine at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, where she claimed gold in the team event and floor exercise, and silver in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam.
Road to Tokyo 2020 and Olympic Qualification
Despite narrowly missing out on the 2016 Rio Olympics, Farah Ann made history by qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, becoming only the third Malaysian gymnast to qualify after Au Li Yen in 2000 and Ng Shu Wai in 2004.
