Biography of Fatima Siad
Fatima Siad is an Ethiopian-Somali model and a participant of the American reality television show 'America's Next Top Model'. She was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, to a Somali mother and an Ethiopian father. She grew up in her native country with her mother and two sisters. Her parents divorced when she was very young. At the age of seven, Fatima underwent the widely practiced ritual of female circumcision in Africa. Tragically, her sisters were killed by soldiers of the Somali army during the civil war. Soon after, thirteen-year-old Fatima and her mother fled to the United States.

Life in America was initially challenging for Fatima and she struggled with a deep sense of inadequacy. However, she received assistance from the 'Posse Foundation' and was able to enroll in Bryn Mawr College in 2004. After some time, Fatima transferred to New York University to study political science before returning to Bryn Mawr. Currently, Fatima Siad collaborates with the New York Model Management team and is a part of the company's editorial group. She also works with L.A. Model Management, Ace Models in Athens, and Ice Models in Italy.
Fatima's impressive resume has left a mark on the modeling industry. She has been featured in publications such as the 'Boston Globe', 'Essence Magazine', 'Look Magazine', 'CosmoGirl', 'Cosmopolitan', 'Style Bermuda', 'Maggie Norris Couture', 'Ebony Magazine', 'Women's Wear Daily', and 'Elle'. She has even graced the covers of French magazines 'The Amuser' and 'Profil Femme'. Fatima also worked for the Swiss cosmetic company 'Arbonne', becoming one of the faces of their advertising campaign for the new product 'Arbonne FC5'.
Fatima gained widespread recognition after her appearance on 'America's Next Top Model'. She finished in the top three, only losing to Whitney Thompson and Anya Kop. Throughout the show, Fatima found herself in the bottom two four times and was in danger of elimination three times. Surprisingly, the winner of the cycle, Whitney Thompson, had a similar record. Fatima's third-place finish surprised many, including herself. In an interview, she admitted that she did not showcase her best work and that other eliminated contestants such as Claire Unabia, Lauren Utter, Katarzyna Dolinska, and Anya Rozova deserved higher placements. Fatima even missed one photoshoot due to lost documents, placing her in the bottom two. However, her strong portfolio saved her from elimination. Fatima later hinted that politics may have played a role in the show's results.
