Italian Violin Virtuoso
Early Life and EducationAndrea Cappelletti was born into a family of renowned musicians, including his uncle, Franco Gulli, and his aunt-in-law, Enrica Cavallo-Gulli. He received his musical training at the conservatories of Trieste and Venice before graduating from the Accademia Chigiana in Siena under the tutelage of his uncle and Salvatore Accardo.
Early Success and Orchestral Career
At the age of 16, Cappelletti made his debut as a soloist with an orchestra conducted by Carlo Zecchi. From 1981 to 1986, he was a member of the chamber orchestra "Virtuosi di Roma." From 1986 to 1992, he served as concertmaster and artistic director of the chamber orchestra I Musici.
Chamber Music and Worldwide Tours
In 1987, Cappelletti joined the Quintetto Fauré. In 1992, he embarked on a year-long world tour with pianist Claude Simerman. In 2004, he co-founded the D'Amici String Quartet.
Teaching and Pedagogy
Throughout his career, Cappelletti has shared his expertise as a music educator. He has taught at the conservatories of Venice and Trieste, the Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, and currently at the Indiana University Bloomington.
