Biography of Federico Mauro
Federico Mauro is an Italian multimedia designer and art director. He was born on May 23, 1980, in Avellino, a small city in southern Italy.
Education and Early Career
Mauro specialized in social sciences and successfully defended an experimental dissertation on horror films in 2004. During his university studies, he had the opportunity to meet Ferzan Özpetek, an Italian film director of Turkish origin. This encounter marked the beginning of a long collaboration, as Mauro took on the task of promoting Özpetek's films on the internet.
Multimedia Projects
In addition to his work as a web designer, Mauro has experience in creating video, photo, and other multimedia projects. He has directed several award-winning short films that have been recognized in various national competitions. In recent years, he has focused on communication projects, internet media, social media strategies, viral and unconventional marketing. Some of his clients include Fandango, Rai Cinema, 01 Distribution, Nanni Moretti, Independent Ideas, Medusa, Mondadori, Alex Britti, Sandro Veronesi, R&C Productions, Richard Cocco Strings, Nastro Azzurro, and Einaudi.
Awards and Recognition
Mauro's works have received numerous awards and have been featured on international design websites such as NewwebPick, Xhilarate, CoolHompeges, and Pixelmakers. Articles about Mauro and his creations have also been published in well-known international publications, including The Guardian, Wired, Web Design Index, as well as Italian magazines and newspapers such as La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, Il Mattino, Il Sole 24 Ore, Il Giornale, SkyTg24, TgCom, and Libero.
Teaching and Professional Affiliations
Aside from his design work, Mauro is also involved in teaching web design and public relations courses at Io-School. In July 2009, he received the Grand Prix at the Italian Web Awards, and a year later, he won the Press Choice award in the same category. In January 2011, he became the art director of the Italian production company, Fandango. Mauro has been nominated for several awards, including the Ciak D'Oro and the Trailer Film Fest for Best Film Poster. In September 2011, he was named the Best Web Designer of the Year at the Italian Web Awards. In November 2012, he once again received the Grand Prix at the Italian Web Awards. In December 2011, Mauro became a member of ADCI, the Italian Art Directors Club.
Famous Projects
One of Mauro's most well-known projects is a series of photographs featuring glasses that either belonged to or could have belonged to various famous individuals, ranging from John Lennon and Tom Cruise to Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes.
