Early Life and Education
Born in Odessa on November 28, 1939, Felix Kokhriht embarked on a multifaceted career that spanned journalism, television, and cultural advocacy. He pursued his medical education at Odessa Medical College No. 3 and later graduated from the philological faculty of Odessa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov.

The Foundation of His Career
Kokhriht's foray into journalism began in the late 1950s when he started writing articles about nonconformist Odessa artists. He organized exhibitions of their works in editorial offices, becoming one of the founders of the Odessa Artists' Association (TOH). In 1960, he joined the staff of the newspaper "Studencheskie Vesti," where he became head of the extracurricular department.
Contributions to the Arts and Culture
Kokhriht played a pivotal role in establishing the Contemporary Art Center TIRS and the Soros-Odessa Contemporary Art Center, serving as president and chairman of the board. He was a member of the UNESCO Jazz Federation and a jury member of the international Odessa festival "Master-Jam Fest." Additionally, he actively participated in the creation of a monument to Isaac Babel in Odessa.
Journalism and Television
From 1959 onwards, Kokhriht held various editorial and journalistic positions at prominent Odessa publications, including "Pivdenna Zorya," "Znamia Kommunizma" ("Yug"), and "Glasnost." He was the deputy editor of the weekly "Slovo" from 1992 to 1997 and one of the founders and editor-in-chief of the magazine "Odessa" until 1996. In the 2000s, he became the editor of the almanac "Deribasovskaya - Rischelievskaya." In television, he hosted and led the programs "Dialogi" and "Sobesednik."
Acknowledgements and Honors
Kokhriht's contributions to journalism and culture have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. These include the "Golden Pen of Odessa," the "Golden Cross" Order from the Association of Cultural and Art Workers of Ukraine, the "Badge of Honor" from the Odessa City Council, and the Honorary Badge of Distinction "For Services to the City" from the Odessa Mayor.
Personal Life and Legacy
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kokhriht is known for his family history. His father, David Kokhriht, was a World War I veteran, and his great-grandfather, Isaac Yakovlevich Kokhriht, was a wealthy merchant and philanthropist. Today, Felix Kokhriht continues to be an active member of the World Club of Odessians and a tireless advocate for the preservation and promotion of Odessa's cultural heritage.
