Italian Racing Driver

Ferdinando Monfardini is an Italian racing driver who has competed in various racing series throughout his career. He has participated in the GP2 series in 2005 and 2006, following his involvement in the Formula 3000, which was later replaced by GP2.

Early Career

Monfardini's racing career began in 1994, when he started competing in karting, just like many of his GP2 rivals. He remained in karting until 2000, making his debut in the Italian Formula Renault in 2001. Ferdinand continued in the series in 2002, combining it with appearances in the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup. He once again participated in the Italian Formula Renault in 2003, as well as two races in the 2000 Eurocup and Formula 3000 with the BCN team.

Formula 3000 and GP2

In 2004, Monfardini completed his first full season in Formula 3000 with the AEZ team, and in 2005, he became one of the few GP2 drivers who had experience in an entire season of Formula 3000. He drove for the Durango team, where he played second fiddle to Clivio Piccione. Towards the end of the season, he switched to the Coloni team, exchanging places with fellow Italian Gianmaria Bruni. In 2006, Ferdinand joined the DAMS team but only managed to score one point more than the previous season before leaving the series.

Later Career

In 2007, Monfardini competed in the GT1 class in the FIA GT championship, driving an Aston Martin DBR9. He then moved on to drive a Ferrari 430 in the GTA class of the International GT Open in 2008.
