Biography of Jules Bianchi
Early LifeJules Bianchi was born in Nice, France. He comes from a family with a strong racing background, as his grandfather, Mauro Bianchi, was a three-time world champion in GT racing, and his great-uncle, Lucien Bianchi, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 and competed in multiple Formula 1 Grand Prix races.
Racing Career
Bianchi started his racing career in karting before transitioning to Formula 1. In 2007, he raced in the French series for SG Formula, where he achieved five wins and first place overall. That same year, Bianchi also competed in the Formula Renault Eurocup, earning one pole position and a strong result in one of the races.
In 2008, Bianchi signed with ART Grand Prix and began his Formula 3 racing career. He won the Masters of Formula 3 race in Zolder and finished third in the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series. Bianchi continued to excel in Formula 3, becoming the leader of the ART team in 2009 and securing eight wins. He held the leading position before the end of the tournament and won another race in Hockenheim.
In 2010, Bianchi moved to the GP2 series, racing for ART. He also participated in the Asian GP2 championship, achieving impressive results before a serious accident at the Hungaroring circuit. Despite a spinal fracture, Bianchi made a quick recovery and returned to racing in the following round.
Formula 1 and Later Years
In 2011, Bianchi continued to race in GP2 alongside GP3 champion Esteban Gutierrez. He achieved outstanding results in the Asian GP2 championship, winning the main race and finishing second overall. In the main GP2 series, Bianchi secured third place, showcasing his talent and potential.
In 2012, Bianchi switched to the Formula Renault 3.5 series, signing with Tech 1 Racing. He partnered with Kevin Korjus and later Daniel Abt. His performances caught the attention of major media outlets, including BBC, speculating about his future in Formula 1. Bianchi underwent trials as part of Ferrari's young driver program, resulting in a contract with Scuderia Ferrari. He served as a reserve driver for the team in 2011 and 2012 while continuing to compete in GP2.
In 2013, Bianchi joined the Marussia team as a race driver, replacing Luiz Razia. He remained with the team for the 2014 season. Tragically, during the Japanese Grand Prix in October 2014, Bianchi lost control of his car in heavy rain and collided with a recovery vehicle. He suffered a severe head injury and remained in a critical condition.
