Dr. Fikret Ismailov: A Distinguished Azerbaijani Scientist
Dr. Fikret Ismailov, an eminent Azerbaijani scientist holding a doctorate in Physics and Mathematics, has made significant contributions to the field. He is a senior researcher at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Physics.
Early Life and Education
Ismailov was born on January 3, 1935, in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. He graduated from School No. 1 named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov in his hometown. He then pursued his higher education at the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute, specializing in Physics and Mathematics.
Scientific Career
After graduating, Ismailov worked as a laboratory assistant, senior laboratory assistant, junior research officer, and senior research officer at the Institute of Physics. In 1973, he became head of the laboratory.
Ismailov's research has primarily focused on the determination of molar coefficients of the forbidden band gap in GaSXSe1-X solid solutions. He developed a technology for growing layered single crystals of AIIIBVI using a method called "slow cooling at a constant temperature gradient."
Through his research, Ismailov also discovered that the extraction of tellurium inclusions through electrochemical treatment improves the electrophysical parameters of CdXHg1-XTe and the characteristic parameters (DvS) of photodetectors.
Political and Social Engagements
Ismailov joined the New Azerbaijan Party on November 21, 1992. He was elected as a Member of Parliament of Azerbaijan during the first parliamentary term (1995-2000). Since 1993, he has served as the chairman of the Yasamal District branch of the New Azerbaijan Party.
On December 29, 2009, Ismailov was awarded the Order of Shohrat by President Ilham Aliyev.
Awards and Publications
Ismailov has authored over 140 scientific publications and holds 19 copyrights and patents. He has also supervised five PhD dissertations.
