Finola Hughes was born on October 29, 1960, in London. She is an English actress and writer of Italian-Irish descent.
Early Life and Education
Hughes attended Norland Place, an English private school, where she received her primary education. In addition to her regular schooling, she studied ballet at the Arts Educational School from the age of ten to seventeen. During her time there, Finola performed in several television productions and ballet performances. At the age of eleven, she made her debut in front of an audience at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
Acting Career
From the beginning of her acting career, Hughes demonstrated a seamless combination of physical beauty and stage talent. This was first showcased in the film "Staying Alive," where she also displayed impressive dancing skills. However, her breakthrough came with the popular daytime soap opera "General Hospital," where she portrayed the mysterious Anna Devane. Finola's success on "General Hospital" led to her involvement in other projects such as "Jack's Place," "Blossom," and "Pacific Palisades."
Cats and Beyond
In 1980, Hughes was invited to play the role of Victoria, the white cat, in the London production of the iconic musical "Cats." The creator of the musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber, personally interviewed each member of the cast, incorporating successful stage adaptations into future productions. Lloyd Webber recalled that he tried to capture a bit of Finola in each subsequent portrayal of Victoria. Following her success in "Cats," Hughes went on to perform in "Song and Dance" and the British film "Nutcracker" alongside Joan Collins.

After "Cats" and "Song and Dance," Hughes caught the attention of renowned actor and director Sylvester Stallone, who invited her to star in his first American film, "Staying Alive," alongside John Travolta.
