Early Life and Club Career

Francisco Valdés, a Chilean attacking midfielder, was born on August 19, 1943. His legendary status stems from his remarkable 13 seasons with Club Deportivo Colo-Colo, where he debuted on May 27, 1961.

Valdés made 371 official appearances for Colo-Colo, scoring 215 goals in the Chilean Primera División, a record that remains unmatched. He led the team to two Campeonato Nacional titles, one Copa Chile triumph, and a memorable run to the Copa Libertadores final in 1973.

International Career

Valdés' international debut for Chile came on November 7, 1962, against Argentina. He represented his country in two FIFA World Cups (1966 and 1974) and the 1975 Copa América. His final international appearance was in a 0-1 defeat to Paraguay on December 22, 1974. In total, Valdés played 48 official matches for Chile, scoring nine goals.

Club Hopping and Retirement

After leaving Colo-Colo in 1974, Valdés played for Unión Española, Deportes Antofagasta, Santiago Wanderers, Cobreloa, and Deportes Arica. He retired from professional football in 1982.
