Political Activism and Legal Defense
Isambert made a name for himself by defending those accused of political crimes, including Berton, Caron, and Armand Carrel. He also passionately defended newspapers like the "Courrier Francais" and "Costitutionnel" when they faced persecution. Additionally, Isambert played a significant role in advocating for the abolition of slavery in French colonies.
Historical Contributions and Legislative Positions
Isambert's work extended beyond politics to the field of legal history. He collaborated on the "Recueil des anciennes lois francais" (Collection of Ancient French Laws), a comprehensive study of French legal history. After the 1830 revolution, he was appointed as an editor of the "Bulletin des Lois" and a member of the Cassation Court, a position he held until his death.
