Early Life and ETA Involvement

Francisco Múgica Garmendia, commonly known as "Pakito", was born in Spain in an undisclosed year. His early life and the circumstances surrounding his initial involvement with ETA remain shrouded in mystery.

Arrest and Extradition

In the mid-1990s, Pakito was arrested in France and sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a conspiracy. In 1999, French authorities extradited him to Spain, where he faced charges before the Spanish Supreme Court.

Trial and Sentencing

Pakito's trial began in August 2000, with allegations of his involvement in several bombings. While he admitted to being a member of ETA, he vehemently denied holding any leadership position within the organization.

Despite media speculations of a 30-year prison sentence, Pakito's fate took a surprising turn. On October 6, 2000, he was found guilty of organizing multiple terrorist attacks and sentenced to 109 years in prison.

ETA's Response

Just three days after Pakito's sentencing, ETA demonstrated its defiance by assassinating Antonio Toro Castro, the Chief Public Prosecutor of Andalusia, in Granada.
