Professor and Conservator

Frédéric Cuvier held the esteemed position of Professor and Conservator of the Cabinet of Comparative Anatomy at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. He also became a member of the esteemed Institut de France.

Zoological Contributions

Frédéric Cuvier's contributions to zoology were significant. His seminal work, "Des Dents des mammifères considérées comme caractères zoologiques" (1825), explored the use of mammalian teeth as diagnostic taxonomic characters.

Collaboration with Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire

In collaboration with his colleague Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, Frédéric Cuvier published the comprehensive "Histoire naturelle des mammifères" (1819-1835). This multi-volume treatise covered a wide range of mammalian species, providing detailed descriptions and systematic classifications.
