Gabriel "Gabe" Forest Hoult
Gabriel "Gabe" Forest Hoult, a Canadian actor best known for his role as Sneezy in ABC's "Once Upon a Time," died at the age of 46 from a heart attack while riding his motorcycle.
Early Life and Career
Hoult was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia. At the age of 16, he signed with an agent in Vancouver and pursued acting. Hoult received training at a theater school.
His early roles included appearances on "21 Jump Street" and the original miniseries "It." He gained recognition for his voiceover work, including Nicol Amalfi in "Gundam SEED," characters in "Fruit Ninja" and "Beyblade Burst," and films like "Barbie & Her Sisters in a Pony Tale" and "Escape from Planet Earth."
'Once Upon a Time' and Other TV Roles
Hoult joined the cast of "Once Upon a Time" in its first season as one of the seven dwarfs, Sneezy. He made sporadic appearances throughout the series' run.
On television, Hoult also had roles in "iZombie," "Supernatural," "A Series of Unfortunate Events," "The Crossing," "Life Sentence," and "The Arrangement."
Personal Life and Health Struggles
Hoult was open about his struggles with depression and anxiety. He found solace in riding his motorcycle, which he believed helped alleviate his stress. In 2018, he expressed feeling overwhelmed due to insomnia.
Two days before his death, Hoult posted an emotional video on social media expressing his frustration with the lack of appreciation he felt in Vancouver.
Tragic Passing and Tributes
On July 20, 2019, Hoult suffered a fatal heart attack while riding his motorcycle near Vancouver. The news was met with an outpouring of grief from his colleagues.
"Once Upon a Time" creator Adam Horowitz wrote on Twitter: "Terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Gabe Hoult... a beautiful man, a great talent, and an integral part of the Once Upon a Time family. But more importantly, he was our friend. We will miss him dearly. RIP Gabe."
