Biography of Gaitana
Gaitana is a Ukrainian soul singer, known for combining genres such as soul, jazz, blues, funk, and folk music in her work. She is also the author of most of the lyrics of her songs. Gaitana was born on March 24, 1979, in Kiev, Ukraine. However, she lived abroad in the Republic of Congo, in Brazzaville, until the age of five. Her father, Claver Essami, is Congolese, which is why she began speaking a mixture of Lingala and French. Gaitana returned to Ukraine in 1985 with her mother, where she learned Russian and Ukrainian. Her father, Claver Essami, still lives in Brazzaville, Congo, where he is involved in the transportation business and has little contact with his daughter. Gaitana also has a half-brother, Denzhandr, from her father's side. Her mother is Ukrainian.

Early Life and Education
Gaitana attended school in Kiev and graduated from a music school, specializing in saxophone. She also received an economics education. From a young age, she was involved in table tennis and achieved the title of Candidate for Master of Sport.

Musical Career
Gaitana's singing career began in 1991 when she participated in the children's television competition "Fant-Loto Nadezhda" and placed third. After that, composer Vladimir Bystryakov invited her to join his ensemble "Altana." With this ensemble, Gaitana participated in the recording of animated films and worked as a backing vocalist for artists such as Irina Bilyk, Taisia Povaliy, Ani Lorak, Nikolay Karachentsov, and Alexander Malinin. She also sang with the jazz orchestra Overtime and the pop-jazz group Unity.
In November 2003, Gaitana released her debut album "About You" primarily in Russian, in collaboration with Lavina Music studio. The album also included a Ukrainian song titled "Children of Light." The most popular Russian-language composition from the album was the song "London, Rain." Her second album, "Following You," was released in June 2005, also through Lavina Music studio, and was predominantly in Ukrainian. In 2006, she released the single "Dva Vikna" ("Two Windows"), as well as an English version of the song. In early 2007, Gaitana released her next single, "Shaleniy" ("Go Crazy").
On November 10, 2007, Gaitana presented her new album "Raindrops," which started rotation in 2008. The first popular composition from the album was the song "Raindrops." On March 11, 2008, she presented her next album, "Secret Wishes," which included 14 songs and two music videos for the songs "Secret Wishes" and "Raindrops." Recently, Gaitana released a new music video for the song "Divne Kokhannya" ("Strange Love"). On October 27, Gaitana released a music video for the song "Shakhtyor—Champion" ("Miner - Champion"), featuring several players from the Donetsk club "Shakhtyor."
Gaitana also participated in the extreme TV quiz show "Natural Selection" (REN), where she became the winner. Her husband, Edward Klim, is the producer of her music.
