Biography of Harry Hayes
Harry Hayes was an Argentine football player of English origin, known for his exceptional goal-scoring ability. He was the brother of another famous football player, Ennis Hayes, and the uncle of Ennis' son, Enrique Ricardo, who played in the 1930s and 1940s. Hayes was born on January 1, 1891, in the city of Rosario, Argentina. He grew up in the Arroyito neighborhood, where many immigrant families lived, and it was there that he first started playing football. At a young age, Hayes began playing for the "Central Railway and Cricket Club." In 1906, he made his debut at the professional level, playing one match for the team "Gimnasia y Esgrima" against "Newell's Old Boys." In 1907, Hayes made his debut for the senior team of the "Central Railway and Cricket Club," which had already changed its name to "Rosario Central." He played for "Central" throughout his career, winning 7 Nicasio Vila Cups, the highest title of the Rosario football league, as well as 5 other various cups.
