Gabriel Heine: A Maestro's Journey
Early Life and Education
Gabriel Heine, an acclaimed conductor, was born in New Jersey, USA. His musical journey began with cello studies at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. He continued his education at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, specializing in opera and symphony conducting under the tutelage of Ilya Musin and Leonid Kormar. Heine further pursued a Master's degree at Indiana University (Bloomington), where he studied under Imre Pallo, Thomas Baldner, and David Effron.
Heine is a regular conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre, leading performances of operas such as "The Marriage of Figaro," "The Magic Flute," "The Barber of Seville," "Macbeth," "La bohème," "Il trittico (The Cloak, Sister Angelica, Gianni Schicchi)," "Jenůfa," and "L'Heure espagnole." He also conducts concert programs within the "Young Theatre-Goers Academy" subscription series, which introduces young audiences to various genres of theatrical and musical art in an interactive multimedia format.
As a guest conductor, Heine has collaborated with renowned orchestras worldwide, including the Basel Symphony Orchestra, Verdi Symphony Orchestra of Milan, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Arad Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania) at the Vienna StadtHalle, State Symphony Orchestra "Novaya Rossiya" in Moscow, Orchestra of the State Academic Capella (St. Petersburg), and Saint-Michel Chamber Orchestra (Finland). Following his performance with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007 during a master class led by Valery Gergiev, Heine was invited by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007 and 2008 to the Gergiev Festival as an assistant conductor, preparing the orchestra for Mahler's Symphony No. 7, Tishchenko's Suite "Yaroslavna," Dutilleux's Violin Concerto, Bruckner's Symphony No. 3, and more.
From 2003 to 2007, Heine served as the principal guest conductor of the Kharkiv Symphony Orchestra "Slobozhanksy" (Ukraine), leading over 40 programs in Ukraine and abroad. He also conducted the orchestra on the final tours of the 7th and 8th Vladimir Krainev International Competition for Young Pianists.
