Early Life and Education

The Ukrainian musician, horn player, conductor, and educator Andriy Kyrpa was born and raised in the musical landscape of Ukraine. He pursued his musical education at the prestigious Kyiv State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky (now known as the National Music Academy of Ukraine). Kyrpa excelled in his studies, completing his undergraduate degree in horn performance under Professor N. Ya. Yurchenko and his postgraduate studies in opera-symphonic conducting under the renowned conductor and People's Artist of Ukraine and Russia, V. N. Kozhukhar.

Professional Career

Kyrpa's remarkable musicality and technical prowess propelled him to success in various orchestras. He served as a soloist in the orchestra of the Opera Studio at Kyiv Conservatory, the Symphony Orchestra of the State Radio and Television, and the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra. From 1972 to 1990, he held the prestigious position of concertmaster of the horn section in the State Honoured Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. His conducting talent also blossomed during this period, as he conducted the same orchestra from 1984 to 1990.

Artistic Leadership

In 1990, Kyrpa embarked on a new chapter in his career as the artistic director and principal conductor of the State Wind Orchestra of Ukraine. He led the orchestra until 1994, leaving a lasting mark on its artistic identity. Kyrpa's exceptional leadership continued at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after T. G. Shevchenko, where he became a leading artist in the symphony orchestra in 1994.

Pedagogical Contributions

Kyrpa's passion for music extended beyond performance. He began his pedagogical career in 1974 at the Kyiv Secondary Special Music School named after N. V. Lysenko, affiliated with the Kyiv Conservatory. In 1995, he joined the faculty of the National Music Academy named after P. I. Tchaikovsky, where he imparted his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of musicians. Throughout his career, Kyrpa's students have achieved remarkable success, becoming laureates of All-Union and International competitions.

Kyrpa's musical legacy extends beyond live performances. He has collaborated on numerous recordings, capturing the essence of his artistry for posterity. Notable works include:
