Biography of Gennady Bazarov
Gennady Bazarov is a renowned Kyrgyz film director and a recipient of several prestigious awards and titles. He was born on May 14, 1942, in the village of At-Bashi, Tian Shan region. Bazarov graduated from the directing department of the VGIK (All-Union State Institute of Cinematography) in 1965, where he studied under the guidance of renowned director Yakov Segel.
Early Career
Bazarov began his career in the film industry as an assistant operator and assistant director at the Kyrgyzfilm studio from 1959 to 1961. He gained recognition for his work as an operator and assistant director on Larisa Shepitko's film "Znoy."
Contributions to Kyrgyzstan Cinema
Bazarov's contributions to the development of Kyrgyzstan's cinematography were highly regarded, and in 2006, he was honored with the title "Man of the Year." Throughout his career, Bazarov received numerous accolades for his work, including honorary diplomas from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. He was also awarded the Medal of "Veteran of Labor" and the Orders of "Honor" and "Manas" (3rd degree).
Personal Life
Bazarov went through a divorce from his first wife in 1965, and from this marriage, he had a son named Alan, with whom he was not allowed to see. He remarried in 1976 to Raiva Toigonbaeva, a graduate of VGIK, and together they raised two daughters, Zuura and Aikanyshe. Both daughters currently live and work in Germany.
Awards and Recognition
In addition to his film career, Bazarov has been recognized for his contributions to literature and cultural heritage. He is a laureate of the Presidential Award "Golden Pen" and the international Chingiz Aitmatov Prize. Bazarov is also an active member of the National Film Academy and has been honored with the Mustafa Kemal Ataturk Gold Medal for his significant contribution to the spiritual treasury of humanity.
