Biography of Henry David
Early Life and EducationHenry David was born in Azerbaijan to actor parents Rufi and Roland Hilovsky. His father had Armenian and Jewish roots. When he was 17 years old, his father died in a car accident. David grew up in Moscow and immigrated to Israel with his family at the age of 11. He received his secondary education at the School of Arts in Tel Aviv, where he began his theater studies.
Early Career
While still a child, David started appearing in television programs such as "Ein Baya" ("No Problem"), hosted by Dudu Topaz, and educational Hebrew language programs, which were later recorded on videotapes. In 1999, he enrolled in the Nisan Nativa Theater Studio, but dropped out after two years. He worked as a janitor and a painter and developed an interest in Kabbalah. He also acted in the "Gesher" theater, where he was involved in productions such as "Master and Margarita," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Marriage of Figaro," and "Variations for Theater with an Orchestra."
Rise to Fame
In 2007, David gained recognition for his role in the drama TV series "Merhak Negia" ("A Touch Away"), alongside Gia Traub, Evgeniya Dodina, and Lucy Dubinchik, which aired on the second channel. In 2008, he participated in the second season of the fantasy TV series for youth "Ga-Nephilim" ("Outsiders") on the children's channel. In 2009, he took part in the third season of the fantasy series "Ga-I" ("Island") on the children's channel and the TV series "Nashot Ga-Tayassim" ("Pilot Wives") on the tenth channel.
Film Career
In 2009, David played the lead role in the Russian-language film "Olympius Inferno." He portrayed a young entomologist from the United States named Michael, who traveled to South Ossetia to film a rare species of nocturnal butterflies. In the same year, he appeared in the film "Kerot" ("Walls"), where he played the role of a criminal repatriate from the CIS. In 2010, Henry David starred alongside another well-known Israeli Russian-speaking actress, Anya Bukstein, in the film "Kalevet" ("Rabies").
Personal Life
Henry David currently resides in Petah Tikva, Israel. He is married and named his son Michael in honor of Michael Jackson. His daughter, Daria, was born in the summer of 2011.
