George Strait

George Harvey Strait, an American country singer, was born on May 18, 1952, in Texas. His father was a mathematician. After his parents' divorce, George and his brother stayed with their father while their sister went with their mother.
Early Career
During his school years, Strait began playing in a rock band but was more inclined towards country music. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in college but eventually dropped out and eloped with his sweetheart Norma to Mexico. They got married there and had a church wedding in Texas a couple of weeks later.
Military Service and Music
In 1971, Strait joined the army and started performing with the band Rambling Country, which also played under the name Santee during their free time. On October 6, 1972, George and Norma welcomed their first child, daughter Jennifer.
After completing his military service in 1975, Strait returned to his studies and enrolled at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University), graduating in 1979. He played in the band Ace in the Hole during his time at the university. Starting from October 1975, the band performed in bars and venues across southern and central Texas. By the late 1970s, they released a couple of singles in a Houston studio.
Rise to Fame
Strait developed a friendship with Erv Woolsey, who owned one of the bars where the band performed and had previously worked at MCA Records. Woolsey helped George and Ace in the Hole establish contact with the record label. MCA was so impressed with George that they immediately signed a contract with the group.
Producer Tony Brown assisted George in recording 15 albums. In October 2006, Strait released the album "It Just Comes Natural," which further solidified his position as a prominent country artist.
