Georges Poujouly - A French Actor

Georges Poujouly was a French actor who gained fame for his role in the film "Forbidden Games". He went on to appear in several other major films before gradually transitioning to television. Poujouly was cast as Michel Dollé at the age of 11 when director René Clément invited him to be a part of the production of "Forbidden Games". While the story of the friendship between Michel and the orphan Paulette, played by Brigitte Fossey, did not achieve much success in France at the time, the film was warmly received in other countries. In fact, in 1952, it won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. "Forbidden Games" is now considered a classic of French cinema, and Poujouly and Fossey became two of the most famous young actors of their time.

In 1952, Poujouly appeared in André Cayatte's film "Nous sommes tous des assassins" (We Are All Murderers). He later took on several smaller roles in the legendary "Les Diaboliques" by Henri-Georges Clouzot and "And God Created Woman" by Roger Vadim. In 1958, Poujouly once again landed a relatively significant role in Louis Malle's thriller "Ascenseur pour l'échafaud" (Elevator to the Gallows) alongside Jeanne Moreau and Maurice Ronet, where he played a car thief and later a murderer.

In the 1960s and beyond, Poujouly primarily focused on television work, although he occasionally appeared in films, usually in minor roles. He received several roles in various television series before transitioning to dubbing. From 1959 to 1962, Poujouly provided the voice for Tintin in two animated series based on the comics by Hergé. He later worked on dubbing for French television, primarily with various foreign series.

Poujouly's last major work was the animated film "Robinson et compagnie" (Robinson and Company), which was another interpretation of Daniel Defoe's classic novel "Robinson Crusoe". Little is known about his life after this project. Georges Poujouly passed away from cancer on October 28, 2000, at the age of 60.
