Georgy Konstantinovich Guryanov, also known as Gustav from the band "Kino," was a Russian artist and musician. He was born on February 27, 1961, in Leningrad.

Early Life and Education

Guryanov attended Art School No. 1 and later decided to continue his education at an art college. In addition to his passion for painting, he was also interested in photography and graphics. During his school years, he learned to play several musical instruments, including the domra, balalaika, guitar, and keyboards, as he attended a music school.

Music Career

In 1978, Guryanov started playing bass guitar in a band called "Dyadya Sam" (Uncle Sam). He also briefly played in a punk collective called "Avtomaticheskiye Udovletvoriteli" (Automatic Satisfiers). In the mid-80s, he played drums in two other Soviet bands. In 1984, he joined the legendary band "Kino" and collaborated with Victor Tsoi until Tsoi's tragic death in 1990. Guryanov also became the vocalist of the well-known group "Pop-Mekhanika" in 1985.

Artistic Career

Alongside his music career, Guryanov pursued painting and showcased his artwork. He collaborated with artist Novikov and became part of the group "Novye Khudozhniki" (New Artists). Guryanov participated in exhibitions both in Russia and abroad. His works focused on sports motifs, influenced by books, movies, and everyday life. He also incorporated naval themes, reflecting strong masculine energy. Guryanov's art was featured in museums in Russia and abroad.

Television and Film

Guryanov made appearances in music videos since 1986 and acted in films such as "Assa," "Konec Kanikul" (End of Vacation), "Rock," "Sex and Perestroika," and others. In 1989, he hosted a sports television show called "Spartakus" on the first independent TV company in the USSR.

Later Life

Guryanov lived and worked in his hometown, St. Petersburg, and also traveled to France, America, Italy, Spain, England, and Germany. He had an interest in learning Spanish. However, his artistic and musical career was cut short when he was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer, worsened by hepatitis C. Guryanov fought for his life, undergoing chemotherapy in Germany. He passed away on July 20, 2013, in his apartment in St. Petersburg.
