Early Life and Travel Writings

Dutch author ________ began his literary career with a series of travelogues. His descriptions of Northern and Southern Europe in "Een zomer in het Noorden" (1860) and "Een zomer in het Zuiden" (1863-1864) gained widespread popularity.

Novellas and Art History

In addition to his travel writings, __________ wrote several novellas. A number of these were translated into German and published in a collection in 1882 in The Hague. He also served as editor of "Kunstkronik" and contributed to the history of Dutch art.

Drama and Youth Literature

__________ was a versatile writer who also penned dramatic works and popular literature for young readers. His three-volume novel "Van huis" (1867) remains his most significant literary achievement.
