Early Years and EducationGerardo Gandini, a renowned Argentine composer, pianist, conductor, and music educator, was born to Italian immigrants. He honed his musical talents under the tutelage of esteemed composers, including Alberto Ginastera and G. Petrassi, and pianist Yvonne Loriod, the second wife of Olivier Messiaen.
Musical Endeavors
Gandini's musical journey took him to diverse platforms. He performed as a member of Astor Piazzolla's sextet established in 1989. His compositions include vocal works inspired by the poetry of Salvatore Quasimodo and others. Notable among his works is the opera "La Ciudad Ausente" ("The Absent City"), which earned him the National Music Award in 1996.

Gandini's pedagogical pursuits extended to universities across Argentina and the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in New York.
