Early Life and InfluencesElfrida Andrée, a groundbreaking Swedish musician, was born in Visby, Gotland. Sister to renowned soprano Fredrika Stenhammar, she displayed musical talent from a young age. Despite societal barriers, she received private lessons from renowned composers Niels Gade of Denmark and Ludwig Norman of Sweden.

Andrée went on to become the first female chief organist of a Swedish cathedral. From 1867 until her passing, she held this prestigious position at the Gothenburg Cathedral. She also served as organist at the Finnish Assembly and the French Reformed Church in Stockholm from 1861 to 1867.
