Biography of Gevorg Danielian

Gevorg Balabekovich Danielian was born on May 5, 1958, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR. He is a political figure in Armenia and has been serving as the Minister of Justice since June 8, 2007.

Education and Early Career

In 1983, Danielian graduated from the Law Faculty of Yerevan State University. From 1977 to 1979, he served in a military unit of the Soviet Army in the former German Democratic Republic.

In 1987, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Moscow Institute of State and Law, a part of the Academy of Sciences of the former USSR. From 1980 to 1984, Danielian worked in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Armenian SSR.

Career Highlights

From 1989 to 1992, Danielian served as the head of the Department for Supervision of Compliance with Legislation in International Relations of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia. From 1992 to 1996, he held the position of prosecutor in the city of Razdan.

In 1996, Danielian became an assistant prosecutor in Yerevan, and in March of the same year, he was appointed as the prosecutor of the Department for Supervision of Laws Compliance in the economic, social, and environmental sectors of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia. From 1999 to 2004, he served as the head of the Department for Protection of State Interests in the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia.

On March 31, 2004, Danielian was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia. Finally, on June 8, 2007, he was appointed as the Minister of Justice of Armenia, a position he has been holding since then.
