Gilbert Achcar: Franco-Lebanese Intellectual and Political Activist
Early Life and CareerGilbert Achcar, born in 1951 in Senegal, is a prominent Franco-Lebanese political researcher, writer, and leader of the French section of the Fourth International, the Revolutionary Communist League. Initially residing in Lebanon, he relocated to France in 1983.
Academic and Intellectual Contributions
Achcar is a renowned professor of Politics and International Relations at the University of Paris-8 (Vincennes-Saint-Denis). Since 2007, he has also held the position of Professor of Applied Research in Comparative and International Relations at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. His research interests encompass:
