Biography of Gilles Marini

Gilles Marini is a French-American actor and model, best known for his roles as Dante in the film "Sex and the City" and as Luke in the TV series "Brothers & Sisters". He was born in Grasse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. His mother is Greek and his father is Italian.

Early Life and Career

From a young age, Gilles Marini helped his father in the family bakery in Grasse, where he worked until he finished school. He later served in the French army and was stationed in Paris, where he worked as a firefighter in the prestigious Brigade des Sapeurs Pompiers de Paris. It was during his time in Paris that Marini met photographer Fred Goudon, who offered him a chance to try his hand at modeling.

After completing his military service, Marini moved to the United States and continued his career as a model. One of his early television appearances was in a commercial for Bud Light. In 2005, at the age of 29, he made his acting debut in the horror film "Screech of the Decapitated".

Rise to Fame

Gilles Marini gained widespread recognition with his role as Dante in the 2008 film "Sex and the City: The Movie". His character was a sexually liberated young man and the neighbor of the main protagonist. Marini notably appeared fully nude multiple times throughout the film. Another prominent role for the actor was as Luke in the ABC series "Brothers & Sisters", where he played the love interest of Rachel Griffiths' character.

By the fall of 2012, Marini had appeared in approximately 23 roles, with the majority of them being television roles. Some of the other notable TV shows he has appeared in include "Ugly Betty", "Criminal Minds", "Dirty Sexy Money", "Castle", "Modern Family", and "Nip/Tuck".

Personal Life and Achievements

Gilles Marini has been married to his wife Carole since 1998, and they have two children together, a son named Georges and a daughter named Julianna. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in June 2012, after a long process that took him 10 years.

In 2009, Marini participated in the popular show "Dancing with the Stars" and nearly became the champion of the season. He and his partner Cheryl Burke finished as the runners-up.
