Early Career and Education

Gleb Golovchenko is a multifaceted professional with a remarkable career in journalism, education, and media development. His passion for communication began at a young age, with his first publication in a newspaper at the age of six. By 16, he was a full-time correspondent for the regional youth newspaper "Leninskoye Plemia."

Journalism and Media Innovation

In 1991, Golovchenko joined the daily newspaper "Evening Nikolaev" as a correspondent. He quickly became a pioneer in the development of commercial television in Nikolaev, serving as editor of the news service for "Telecom-1" in 1992 and senior editor for the television studio "Zerkalo" in 1993.

In December 1992, he founded the South Ukrainian Agency for Useful Information "Tetra," the first public opinion formation agency in Ukraine, and became its director. Under his leadership, the agency introduced concepts of political and corporate marketing.

Director of the College of Press and Television

In September 1997, Golovchenko became the director of the College of Press and Television, a higher education institution that he himself conceptualized and established. As the youngest director of a higher education institution in Ukraine, he has led the college to unprecedented heights.

Under his guidance, the college has developed and implemented учебные планы (teaching plans) for preparing bachelors in information science, obtained licensing and accreditation, and established international partnerships. It has also implemented the innovative "Didactic Information Space" pedagogical technology for preparing bachelors in information science.

Furthermore, Golovchenko has overseen the creation of the Television Academic Channel (TAK-TV), the first and only educational broadcast television channel owned by a higher education institution in the former USSR. TAK-TV provides students with practical experience and has a significant viewership in Nikolaev and the surrounding region.

Leadership and Recognition

Throughout his career, Golovchenko has held numerous leadership positions in the media industry and educational circles. He is currently the chairman of the Mykolaiv Press Club, president of the Association of Youth Press of Ukraine, and secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. He also serves as advisor to the mayor of Mykolaiv.

Golovchenko's contributions to journalism and education have been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the title of "Honored Journalist of Ukraine" in 2012, the "Golden Medal of Ukrainian Journalism" from the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, and the "Order for the Development of Education" from the Association of Educational Institutions of Ukraine with Private Ownership.

International Projects and Initiatives

Golovchenko has played a significant role in initiating and implementing international projects. He has led projects in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the Council of Europe, and several European embassies on topics ranging from press freedom to media development and educational reforms.

Publications and Other Contributions

Beyond his practical work, Golovchenko is an author of over 20 scholarly and scientific publications on topics related to media development in Ukraine, the formation of information society, and innovative pedagogical models for preparing bachelors in information science.

Additionally, he is the founder and initiator of the National School Newspaper Contest, which has transformed into the International School Media Contest over the years. Through this contest, he has fostered young talent in journalism and promoted media literacy among Ukrainian youth.
