Gogi Gogua: Georgian Footballing Midfielder

Gogi Gogua is a Georgian professional footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Kazakhstani club Kyzylzhar SK.

Early Career

Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Gogua began his playing career with local clubs 21st Century and Dinamo Tbilisi. He made his senior debut at the age of 16 for Guria Lanchkhuti in the Georgian First League.

Club Career in Georgia and Russia

After stints with Dinamo Tbilisi's youth team and Merani-Olimpi, Gogua joined Tbilisi in 2003, playing 41 times and scoring twice. In 2005, he moved to Russian First Division club Khimki, but struggled to gain playing time.

Breakthrough at Spartak Nalchik

Gogua's breakthrough came in 2006 when he joined Spartak Nalchik in the Russian Premier League. He became a regular, making 23 appearances and scoring twice in his debut season.

Time in Scotland and Return to Russia

In 2007, Gogua agreed to join Scottish club Hearts, but the transfer failed due to visa issues. He then returned to Russia, signing for Saturn Ramenskoye before rejoining Spartak Nalchik.

Loan to Terek Grozny

In 2009, Gogua was loaned to Terek Grozny, but returned to Nalchik after making only five appearances. He remained with Nalchik until 2010, playing 61 matches and scoring five goals.

Return to Georgia and Stints in Russia and Kazakhstan

After leaving Nalchik, Gogua returned to Georgia and played for Dinamo Tbilisi. He spent the 2012/13 season on loan at Dila Gori before moving to Russian First League side SKA-Energiya Khabarovsk. In 2015, he returned to Dila Gori, but then signed for Kazakhstani club Irtysh Pavlodar in 2016. He later played for Ordabasy and Okzhetpes before joining Kyzylzhar SK in 2018.

International Career

Gogua made his debut for the Georgian national team in 2005 and scored his only international goal against Bulgaria in 2005. He fell out of favor with the team in 2011 after a conflict with the coach.
