Early Life and Education

In 1827, the renowned Azerbaijani poetess known as Beyim was born in the city of Nakhchivan. At the tender age of ten, she enrolled in the newly established Russian school in her hometown, where she diligently studied the Russian and Farsi languages.

Poetic Beginnings

Beyim actively participated in the renowned poetic gathering known as "Goncheyi-ul-fat," which fostered her literary aspirations. Under the pseudonym "Beyim," she composed exquisite lyrical verses that captivated audiences. She also contributed to the composition of the epic poem "Prince Ibrahim," claiming authorship of certain portions.

Literary Connections with Georgia

Fate brought Beyim into the orbit of the Georgian poet Nikoloz Baratashvili, who was acquainted with Ehsan-khan. Captivated by Beyim's poetic prowess, Baratashvili penned the evocative "Song of Gonchabeyim" in her honor. He further translated one of her poems into the Georgian alphabet and dispatched it to Tbilisi for publication. Baratashvili advised Beyim to enlist the talents of renowned singers such as Satar and Jafar to perform her verse at auspicious gatherings. As documented by I.K. Yenikolopov, the gifted Satar performed one of Beyim's poems in Georgian with such virtuosity that it became an unforgettable experience.
