Early Life and Education
Gottmik, an American drag performer and makeup artist, was adopted at a young age by a conservative family in Scottsdale, Arizona. He attended Notre Dame Preparatory High School and began exploring drag at the age of eighteen. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the fashion industry. He later earned a degree in Product Development from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
Makeup Career
Gottmik's makeup artistry has been featured in publications such as Flaunt, Nylon, and Paper. He has worked on clients including Cindy Crawford, Paris Hilton, Adam Lambert, and Taylor Swift's music video for "You Need to Calm Down." Notable collaborations include Amanda Lepore and Pabllo Vittar's Gay Times covers. In 2020, he did Lil Nas X's makeup for his Halloween costume as Nicki Minaj.
RuPaul's Drag Race and Subsequent Tours
In 2021, Gottmik became the first openly transgender man to compete on RuPaul's Drag Race, placing third/fourth alongside Rosé in the thirteenth season. He won two challenges and surpassed expectations with his drag skills and charisma. After the show, he signed with Voss Events and embarked on their Drive 'N Drag Saves 2021 tour, as well as the 2022 RuPaul's Drag Race Werq the World tour.
Media Appearances and Collaborations
Gottmik has appeared on the YouTube channels of Gigi Gorgeous, Pearl, James Charles, and World of Wonder. He was featured on the cover of Attitude Style in 2021 and demonstrated his drag transformation process for Cosmopolitan. He co-hosts the No Gorge podcast and YouTube series with Violet Chachki.
Personal Life and Identity
Gottmik identifies as a transgender man who does drag in a feminine style, using she/her pronouns in character and he/him out of drag. He is pansexual and counts Gigi Gorgeous as a close friend and ally.
