Early Life and Education
Gözde Kansu was born on August 23, 1980, in Izmir, Turkey, and grew up alongside her sister, Simge. Her parents were involved in real estate. Due to her flexibility, Kansu was recommended to pursue ballet, but due to her weight gain, she later shifted her focus to music, theater, journalism, and poetry. In high school, she wrote and photographed news articles, maintained a column in a local publication, and ran the school newspaper.
Transition to Theater and Film
Kansu's interest in journalism motivated her to write plays. She traveled to Istanbul to immerse herself in the world of drama. There, she attended a play by the City Theater, which sparked her love for the stage, particularly Bertolt Brecht's "Caucasian Chalk Circle." She was eventually accepted into the resident troupe and toured with them to Antalya. Upon her return to Izmir, Kansu enrolled in the Fine Arts Department at Dokuz Eylül University. She later relocated to Istanbul for more opportunities in acting.
Early Acting Roles
Despite auditioning for the dance ensemble "Fire of Anatolia," Kansu prioritized theater. She performed in various productions on Istanbul's stages, including "Kaçakamak" and "Enkaz." With the play "Nereye Gitti Bütün Çiçekler?" she toured over 20 Turkish cities. Kansu's film and television debut occurred at the age of 15 in the soap opera "Çiçek Taksi." After several episodic roles, she secured a supporting role in the drama series "Symphony of Love," which marked a turning point in her acting career.
Notable Film and Television Projects
Kansu went on to star in popular films and series such as "Madam's Mansion," "The Tide," and "Queen of the Night." In 2016, she appeared in the hit series "Inside," portraying the wife of a criminal. Another prominent role was in the drama series "Wounded" ("Tell Me, Karadeniz"). Despite being cast for all three seasons, Kansu left the project after the first due to health reasons. The series gained international recognition, including its broadcast in Russia.
Personal Life
Kansu had a relationship with stylist Engin Tozak for several years. After their separation, she briefly dated musician Güntaç Özdemir. She describes herself as passionate and values her family. Kansu does not prioritize romantic relationships, noting her grandmother's ability to have children after 40 as an inspiration. She considers work to be her fuel and has not acquired significant assets despite earning independently since her youth.
Philanthropy and Personal Values
Despite portraying various characters, Kansu is known for her friendly and compassionate nature. She is critical of herself and strives for improvement. Her high energy occasionally tires her, but she enjoys cooking and creating a cozy home environment.
Return to the Screen
Following her departure from "Wounded," Kansu took a four-year hiatus from acting before returning for the series "The Kingfisher." She plays the mother of the protagonist, while Emre Altuğ portrays the father. The series has gained popularity in Turkey and internationally.
Rumors and Romantic Life
Despite the lack of a romantic relationship on-screen, rumors of a romance between Kansu and Altuğ have circulated due to their chemistry. Kansu has denied such claims, stating that she is currently single and focused on her work.
