Grant Hachatryan is an Armenian state and political figure. He was born in Armenia and graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1967 with a degree in Radio Engineering.
After completing his education, Hachatryan worked as an engineer at the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences from 1972 to 1973. He then joined the All-Union Institute of Radio Physical Measurements, where he held various positions including engineer, senior engineer, and group leader from 1973 to 1978.
From 1978 to 1983 and 1986 to 1990, Hachatryan worked at the ATIS Center of the Razdan Machine-Building Production Association as a senior engineer, head of department, and sector manager. During this time, he also pursued his postgraduate studies and worked as a junior research fellow at the Moscow Aviation Institute from 1983 to 1986.
In 1988, Hachatryan became one of the founders of the Constitutional Group of the 26 Commissars District in Yerevan. In 1998, he ran as a candidate for the presidency of Armenia and served as the Executive Secretary of the Political Council under the President.
From 1990 to 1995, Hachatryan was a member of the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR. He served as the Secretary of the Permanent Commission on the Establishment of Independent Statehood and National Policy. He was re-elected as a parliament member from 1999 to 2003 and was a member of the Permanent Commission on Defense, National Security, and Internal Affairs. He was also a member of the "Right and Unity" faction.
Hachatryan continued his political career as a parliament member from 2003 to 2007, where he once again served on the Permanent Commission on Defense, National Security, and Internal Affairs. He also founded the Union "Constitutional Law" during this time.
