Israeli Physician and Politician

Dr. Rachel Adato is an acclaimed Israeli physician and politician who served as a Member of the Knesset (Israeli parliament) for the Kadima party during the 18th Knesset.

Early Life and Education

Adato was born in Haifa, British Mandate of Palestine (now Israel), and served in the Israel Defense Forces as a boot camp instructor. She obtained her law degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a master's degree in business administration, and a medical doctorate.

Medical and Civic Career

Before entering politics, Adato held the position of Deputy General Director of Shaare Zedek Medical Center. She also served on the Mevaseret Zion City Council. Additionally, she represented Israel in four United Nations delegations on women's health.

Political Career

In preparation for the 18th Knesset elections, Adato was placed 22nd on the Kadima party list. As the party secured 28 seats, she was elected to the Knesset. She joined the Ethics Committee, the Labor, Welfare, and Health Committee, the Petitions Committee, and the House Committee. Adato also led the Israel-India and Israel-Nepal parliamentary groups.

Personal Life

Adato resides in Mevaseret Zion with her husband and two children.
