Early Life and Education

Born on March 12, 1998, in the city of Lipetsk, Russia, Gretta Vedler grew up with the surname Pavlenko but preferred to use her mother's name, as well as claim German ancestry. Little is known about her early life, except that she had a difficult relationship with her grandmother and suffered from a chronic heart condition.

Modeling and Blog Career

After high school, Gretta moved to Moscow to pursue modeling. Despite her petite height of 5 feet 5 inches, she maintained a fit figure through intense workouts and underwent cosmetic surgery. However, she primarily shared photos of herself in glamorous outfits on her Instagram account rather than pursuing any major runway work.

Gretta also became a popular blogger, offering advice on nutrition and relationships. Additionally, she claimed to have made successful financial investments in the stock market. However, there are allegations suggesting she also engaged in escort services, traveling both domestically and internationally.

Personal Life

Gretta's personal life was marred by a tumultuous relationship with Dmitry Korovin, whom she had known since childhood. They moved to Moscow together, but their partnership was plagued by arguments over money and Dmitry's alleged physical abuse. In 2017, an incident occurred where Dmitry claimed to have killed an intruder who broke into their apartment, protecting Gretta.

Disappearance and Murder

On February 24, 2021, Gretta vanished. Her social media activity ceased, and messages sent to acquaintances were uncharacteristically brief and impersonal. Suspecting foul play, her friends reported her missing. The investigation revealed that she had not left Russia, contrary to claims made by Dmitry.

Her body was discovered over a year later, on March 12, 2022, inside a suitcase in a parked car belonging to Dmitry. A bloodstain found in a Moscow hotel room led investigators to the perpetrator.

Trial and Conviction

Dmitry Korovin was charged with murder, as well as stealing money from Gretta's bank account. He initially pleaded guilty to manslaughter, claiming he had accidentally killed her during a drunken argument. However, prosecutors believed the murder was premeditated.

Aftermath

Gretta's mother expressed doubts about Dmitry's guilt, suggesting that her daughter had been killed by wealthy patrons and that Dmitry was being framed. Meanwhile, Dmitry's family faced public scrutiny and left Lipetsk after his arrest.
