Grigor II of Khachen

Grigor II was an Armenian prince who ruled over the Upper Khachen region from approximately 1287. His dominion extended over lands including Sodk and Shohag.

Marriage and Alliances

Grigor II was married to Asp, the daughter of Tarsaich Orbelian. He also had a daughter named Minakhatun, who married Hasan-Jalal. These alliances strengthened Grigor's political standing in the region.

Title and Territories

Grigor II held the prestigious title of "prince of Armenians" and "lord of the Lesser Syunik – Khandaberda, Akan, and the high mountains of Gegham." His reign marked a period of prosperity and influence for Upper Khachen.

Legacy and Decline

Following Grigor II's reign, the power of Upper Khachen weakened. The region eventually fell under the suzerainty of the princes of Lower Khachen, leading to a decline in its political significance. However, Grigor II's legacy lived on as a testament to the once-flourishing Armenian principality of Khachen.
