The Birth of "Grozootvod"
In the autumn of 2002, amidst the concrete blocks of St. Petersburg, a trio of high school friends embarked on a musical journey. Vladimir "Hatfield" Bekyashev, Mikhail "Mahno" Mavlekhamov, and Pavel "Pashtyet" Alekseev formed the band that would later become known as "Grozootvod."
Humble Beginnings
With limited resources, the fledgling musicians rehearsed in the cramped apartment of their guitarist, Hatfield. They played on rudimentary instruments, including a decrepit acoustic guitar, a bass-less string guitar, and improvised drumsticks pounding on cardboard boxes.
The Name Game
In May 2003, the band made its debut as "Coliseum" at the Manhattan club. Despite a bass guitar purchased only the day before and an absent distortion pedal, the performance was a success.
A New Identity
As the band's sound evolved, they realized that "Coliseum" no longer reflected their musical direction. In March 2004, they adopted the name "Grozootvod."
A Controversial Debut
Their debut under the new moniker was memorable for a confrontation with the band "Nizhe Nuly," which included their school's IT teacher. This incident garnered the band support from students and teachers alike.
The Rise of Grozootvod
From September 2004 onward, Grozootvod experienced a resurgence. They expanded their lineup and honed their sound, shaking the walls of various clubs with their intense riffs.
A Legacy of Loudness
To this day, Grozootvod continues to unleash its thunderous music upon the stages of St. Petersburg and beyond, leaving a lasting impact on the local rock scene.
