In 1951, Gunārs Cilinskis graduated from the Ogrski Forestry Technical School, and in 1954, he completed the Theater Department of the Latvian Conservatory in Riga. He began his career as an actor in the Academic Drama Theater of the Latvian SSR in 1955.
Acting and Directing Career

Gunārs Cilinskis made his film debut in 1959 in the movie "Stranger in the Village." He became known for portraying brave and determined characters, primarily in heroic-adventure and detective films. In 1966, Cilinskis played the lead role in the film "Nocturne." The romantic love story of a Latvian man named Georg and a French woman named Yvette, their struggle against fascism in the International Brigades in Spain, and later in France, left a lasting impact on his creative biography.
